Korean Wave Flows Like Capillary On The Global Village
Reporter. Young-Il, Han.

[CLO] “The world is wide enough to transport so many cargoes"
There is a craze for new Korean Wave, particularly K-pop, all over the world. Now its popularity is extending like capillary to every global village not only in Asia but up to Middle East and Central South America. This phenomenon will probably tow the export of 'Made in Korea' products. The more Korean Wave gets popular, the higher the sales of Korean goods rises.

The result is numerically expressed on the statistical data for export/import by Korea Customs Service. Since 2005, the export of consumer goods to Middle East, South America and Central Asia has sharply increased influenced by diffusion of Korean Wave.

The export to Middle East(especially Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia) hit 10 billion$ for the first time last year. As for Central South America, Peru, Mexico and Brazil lead the export and the figure showed 50% up.

For this reason, the significance of safe and just-in-time delivery for 'Made in Korea' products has got strengthened more than ever. Even though Korean manufacturers are expanding their production capacity to overseas, the responsibility of door-to-door delivery of the goods to global users rests purely on logistics company. This means that global logistics service aiming at emerging market is now of great importance.

A Gateway to Latin America!
'PANTOS LOGISTICS' Brazil Corporation (1)

PANTOS LOGISTICS is enthusiastic in exploitation of a new market in Latin America. The company already established its corporation and set up logistics network in Mexico(2006) and Brazil(2007), which is a strategic point as well as a powerful nation in Central South America.

Particularly PANTOS provides logistics services including export and import cargo transport(sea & air), customs clearance, warehouse management and inland haulage for Brazil as the center all over Central American region. Brazil is so called their primary customer LG Electronics's 'the second domestic market'.

Last year another corporation was founded in Panama, a logistics hub of Central America. Panama is PANTOS's third foothold for that region after Mexico and Brazil that carries out a role of base for transshipment cargoes moving between customer's manufacturing factories located in Manaus, Brazil and west-southern American countries such as Colombia, Peru, Chile.

The traffic handled by PANTOS in South America region expects to be about sea 70,000TEUs, air 25,000ton and continuous growth is predicted in export/import & domestic logistics field. Following up on Mexico, Brazil and Panama, the company plans to expand logistics network to surrounding countries including Chile, Colombia and Argentina.

Aside from this, PANTOS has the advantage over CIS, Eastern Europe and Central Asia bound transportation by using various transport modes like sea, TSR, TCR etc. Currently PANTOS has secured 26 transport networks in 12 CIS strategical points such as Moscow(Russia), Almaty(Kazakhstan), Kiev(Ukraina), Tashkent(Uzbekistan), Bishkek(Kyrgyzstan) after founding corporations and branch offices there.

In June 2007, PANTOS constructed logistics complex 11 times as large as football ground at Tuchkovo near Moscow for the first time as a Korean company in order to break into inland logistics area of Russia. Tuchkovo complex functions as logistics hub by storing cargoes that come through TSR and sending them to inland Russia, CIS regions, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. Moreover it has excellent geographic advantage enough to attract Europe departure cargoes and transport them to Russia inland area.

Tuchkovo complex is able to deal with and store 3,400TEUs a day and has the feasibility of self customs clearance for around 500TEU cargoes based on bonded warehousing license. PANTOS is carrying out self customs clearance service in the port of Vostochny and St.Petersburg as well.

As Korean conglomerates' investment towards Russia gets active, the demand for logistics service particularly on automobiles and IT products is predicted to increase gradually.
